This evening marks another festival debut which is sponsored through the great generosity of Bernard & Patricia Haitink. Camerata RCO are all members of the legendary Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and it is an absolute love of chamber music that drives these musicians to divert time out of their busy schedules, to perform together as Camerata RCO. Their programme features two of the greatest works ever written for wind and strings and between those they play Webern’s beautiful Langsamer Satz (slow movement), composed in 1905 when he was just 21. Its post-romantic sound world reveals the influence of Brahms, Wagner, and Strauss on the young composer.

“The Camerata players, especially the fine clarinetist Hein Wiedijk, gave a warm, glowing performance of this mellow, often intricate music.” New York Times
