Symphony no.3 in D major D200

For the first Academy Orchestra concert of 2018, our president plays Mozart’s A major piano concerto of 1782, a work that is operatic in character and full of charm and elegance; and our orchestra leader Ruth Rogers performs one of the best loved violin concertos ever written. They are bookended by the first of Haydn’s ‘London’ symphonies, and Schubert’s concise and spirited third symphony composed when he was just eighteen.

Ruth Rogers “one of the most gifted young violinists in Britain” Musical Opinion

“…a light-footed performance, Lewis’s flowing yet thoughtful playing producing sparks of brilliance alongside a vibrant orchestra” Mozart’s Piano Concerto K414 The Guardian
