Brahms

Symphony No2 in D major Op. 73

For the final concert of 2017 our President returns to perform Grieg’s much loved piano concerto. Composed when he was only twenty four it remains one of his most well known works and, arguably, is one of, if not the, most popular piano concertos ever written. Despite the fact that, to some extent, it suffers from over familiarity, it is a magnificent piece. It requires great rapport between soloist and conductor, something it will certainly have with tonight’s artists. The festival comes to a close with the only Brahms Symphony not yet performed by the Academy orchestra.
