David Pollard working with three advanced singers
Pianist Jessica May
The master class morning has become a popular addition to the festival, and I am delighted that David Pollard, a friend since our RCM days, has agreed to return in 2017 to take the class. He will work with three advanced students. David is widely acknowledged as one of finest and most sought after teachers in Europe, credited as the long-term teacher of many of the UK’s best-known and most successful singers. His students, past & present, can be heard in major roles in all the world’s international opera houses. Competition successes amongst his students have included wins in all the major British competitions (The Kathleen Ferrier Competition, the Richard Tauber Prize, the Maggie Teyte, The Royal Overseas League, the International Mozart Competition, Cardiff Singer of the World and the Young Welsh Singer of the Year). He also taught the acclaimed baritone Roderick Williams, who appears twice in week two of the festival.
As always this will be a fascinating morning for both voice and instrumental students alike, or in fact anyone who enjoys witnessing teaching at the very highest level.
