Welcome to the 2018 Chipping Campden International Music Festival. Charlie Bennett has once again worked his magic and put together another fantastic programme of concerts for your enjoyment. The list of artists coming to perform next May speaks volumes for how highly regarded this gem of a festival has become and how many musicians, myself included, relish the opportunity to return to perform in the glorious acoustics of St James’ Church each year.
2018 marks the 10th anniversary of the Festival Academy Orchestra, conducted by Thomas Hull, an orchestral training scheme like no other and one which has spawned 2 other orchestras in the town. An amazing achievement. Chipping Campden is worth a visit at any time of the year, but to be there in May and enjoy such a musical feast is surely irresistible.

As always I am delighted to endorse the marvellous educational work done by Chipping Campden International Music Festival.
The main thrust of their work over the last year has been to extend orchestral opportunities for young players, something that is so vital because of the way music is being sidelined in the school curriculum.
In addition to the main Festival Academy orchestra (founded in 2008) the Youth Academy Orchestra (founded in 2015) comprising 50% students of grade 8 level or above and 50% postgraduate musicians, met for the third time this August with acclaimed violinist Nicola Benedetti as soloist in a sell out concert. And in January of 2017 the Festival founded its third orchestra, the North Cotswold Youth Orchestra, which concentrates on working with local young players of grade 5 and above standard. In addition, the festival runs a community choir with a membership of 100 and also works on a regular basis with local secondary school choirs.
